The Full Gospel Tabernacle
"A Church Changed by the Power of Pentecost"

Church History
We are very thankful to God for our church, The Full Gospel Tabernacle, located at 1210 Landes and Sweeney Streets in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
The Lord blessed it's beginning on November 15, 1957.  Rev. John Whitsett was the first pastor . The original Board of Trustees were Bro. Willis Humphrey, Bro. V.M. Reed, Bro. Don Wood, Bro. George Lovellette, Bro. Eugene Matthews, Bro. Glen Markle, and Bro. Harrell Bratton.  Sis. Eva Humphrey was our first secretary.
The church's mortgage was paid off in June of 1967 at the Wabash County Savings and Loan.
The church has been blessed to have the following Pastors throughout the years:  Rev. John Whitsett, Rev. Bill Addis,  Rev. David Shelton, Rev. Don Logan, Rev. Bill Whitsett, Rev. Albert Altenberger, Rev. Jim Millikin Sr., Rev. Larry Bailey, Rev. Chuck Harrington, Rev. Bill Wagner, Rev. Bill Terry, Rev. Mark Webb, Rev. Geoffrey Bond, Rev. Jeremy Spurlock and our current pastor, Rev. Aaron Swafford.
On August 31, 1983, our church had grown to about 150 people, so we purchased the corner lot located at 1207 Landes St., east of the church, to build a new parsonage.  The parsonage had been located at the back of the church, so this gave more room for an annex and Sunday school rooms.
In the Fall of 1996 until the year 2000, we were blessed to have a Christian School.  Rev. Kerry Sampson was the principal of the Full Gospel Christian Academy
In July 1996, we purchased the lot on the corner of Landes and Sweeney St., north of the church.  It was used for a playground for the Christain School students and is now being used for a parking lot.
In May 2005, we purchased the lot to the South of the church, 1208 Landes St. The land came with a two-story garage which we use for church rummage sales and fund raiser programs.
